The meningitis vaccine can result in side effects such as high-grade fevers (above 105 degrees), fainting spells, seizure-like movements, anaphylactic shock, brain damage, intellectual and/or physical disability, and even death.

Meningitis is a serious disease that causes an infection of the spinal cord and the covering of the brain. It can also cause a life-threatening blood infection. Each year, 1,000-1,200 people get meningitis, usually infants or young adults. 10-15% of those infected, die from the disease.
